Hope is Here: Serving So That Others May Serve

Few things stand in the way of the unstoppable force of 20 hungry upper-elementary students sprinting off of the bus to eat the delicious food prepared for the After School Program here at CHAT. However, on a particular Wednesday, 11-year old Nadje decided that after enjoying snack with her fellow middle-schoolers, she would eagerly serve food to the newly arrived younger students rather than play with her friends.

It’s September and that means back to school for all our programs, from our After-School Tutoring, to our Tiny Tykes Preschool, to our Work Leadership Institute, to Church Hill Academy! As we start the new school year, Church Hill Academy has the opportunity to participate in the College Mentoring Partnership Program in association with Royall & Company to equip our students for whatever lies ahead after graduation. CHAT Impact: From Resident to Staff

Every year, CHAT hosts year long residents and summer interns. Year long residents and summer interns are young adults who engage in up to 50 hours of service every week in one of CHAT's programs. Whether they are with us for a year or a summer, they explore racial reconciliation, poverty, privilege and Church Hill's history, through guest speakers and book study. As we say farewell to this year's interns and residents, we look back on one resident's journey to becoming CHAT staff.
