After 3 years, what was once just an idea is becoming a reality! The Front Porch Cafe will host its grand opening on Thursday, October 19 and YOU are invited. From the food they serve to the youth they employ, read on to see how Front Porch Cafe is a cafe for the community!
The Front Porch Cafe is much more than a place to get your caffeine fix. When you first walk in, you will probably be greeted by one of our 3 high school students or 2 local high school graduates, all from our Church Hill community. The Cafe is dedicated to equipping young people in the community to be successful and to position them to work toward their aspirations after graduation and beyond.
Whether that dream is going to culinary school after graduation like Jonathan or owning a hair salon like Altira, the Front Porch provides relevant and valuable work experience for the youth in Church Hill.
But beyond the employees, the Cafe is simply a welcoming place to serve our neighborhood. After numerous door-to-door conversations, the Front Porch became a space that provides accessible, affordable, and appealing food and drink geared toward the community from quality $1 coffee to a delicious Buffalo Chicken Salad Sandwich.
After all, what is a front porch? It breathes an inviting atmosphere to all, and exists for stories, friendships, and great home-cooked food. And we want to invite you to be a part of it all.
“It's a place where people love their neighbors. I’ve learned to take care of my neighbors there.”
-Church Hill Resident
